Our lives had gone in quite different directions for the first 30 years or so. I, Kay, was a stay at home mom and homeschooler. Lori had been in retail, as a buyer for large department stores.
When she and her husband moved back to South Carolina, I thought, "She's going to think I'm the most boring person she's ever met!" Instead, we found that we both loved creative arts. Lori is an accomplished ballerina, I am a pianist. We've since worked together in two performing art schools, at one time teaching a room full of preschoolers about rhythm and dance!
What we found is that we love working together. We have different strengths. Lori is the visionary, seeing where we need to go with our business. I am the technician, finding the best way to make it happen.
It's a good collaboration, as much about building family relationships as it is about business. Maybe more.
